The launch of the Benkadi Project took place in Burkina Faso on November 29, 2021. Scheduled for a period of 5 years, the project operates in seven regions in Burkina Faso including Center-East, North, Center-North, Central Plateau, Center – West, the Cascades and the SAHEL.
Benkadi Burkina aims by 2025, 25% of degraded land identified in the Nationally Determined Contribution (CDN) are rehabilitated; 100% of mining companies in the Cascades and Center-East regions effectively implement 80% of the actions of their Environmental and Social Management Plans; 2,400 artisanal miners from regularly installed sites abandon the use of products the use of prohibited chemicals (Mercury and Cyanide) and undertake to restore degraded land through the action of grassroots communities, in particular women, young people and people with disabilities have been strengthened in the seven regions of the project.
